IMAGES on PubMed

PubMed continues to add features that allow you to link to information and resources contained in other NCBI databases.
• A NEW Images Database will be linked to those citations that contain images in PubMed Central articles. If an article in PubMed Central contains images, thumbprints of several of the first images will display below the citation in the abstract view. A link to see all images will be available. In addition, mousing over the image will bring up a preview. Read the Technical Bulletin for more information with screen shots about this new feature. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/techbull/so10/so10_pm_display_ncbi_images.html

The Images Database is searchable on its own as well. Check it out here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/images. It is included in the list of databases from the drop down menus in PubMed and NCBI resources.
Remember that Copyright Restrictions may still apply to materials found in PubMed Central. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/about/copyright.html

• Also, please note that PubMed is in its annual “Year-End Processing” where changes to citations are being made to conform with 2011 version of MeSH and other changes. This means that NLM temporarily suspends the addition of fully-indexed MEDLINE citations.

Other additions to PubMed include:

• A Books & Documents indicator displays below citations where a link to the Free Text from the NCBI Bookshelf is available.
• Enhanced My Bibliography: A selection for My Bibliography has been added to the Send to menu in PubMed. More in the Technical Bulletin http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/techbull/so10/so10_pm_my_bib.html
• Dietary Supplements subset to be added to PubMed: Read more: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/techbull/so10/so10_dietary.html
